Even though I was meeting everyone for the first time this past weekend, all of Gramma's best and dearest friends, I felt like I had met them before. Saying goodbye didn't feel like I was saying goodbye to total strangers. I feel like I will see them all again.

Thanks for a wonderful weekend

Empty Handed

I wish I had more photos of grandma to post.
but maybe i'll just reveal the most memorable things to me about my grandmother.

1) Her smell...when I first put her sweater that my dad had brought back from canada up to my face and smelled I couldn't help tear up. A person's smell effects us more than I think we realize. I was overwhelmed with just...grandma. Tons and tons of memories came at me. I felt like I was standing in a narrow hallway and water was coming at me with great force and speed.

2) Her laugh and speech patterns

3) Her singing and story telling. Especially her story of meeting Frank Sinatra. This story blew my mind when I first heard it at the age of ten or so, partially because I was obsessed with Frank Sinatra at the time...

Journey Through the Past

When ever I hear the song Journey Through the Past by Neil Young I think of grandma.
The lyrics seen to apply very well to the events of the recent past.

"Now i'm going back to Canada on a journey through the past
and I won't be back till february comes.
I will stay with you if you'll stay with me said the fiddler to the drum
and we'll have good time on a journey through the past"

Grandma, Dad and Roxy: 2006 (I think)

I always remember how Grandma Jack would call roxy "The oobie dubbie scooby dubbie"
she'd pucker her lips as she said it and Roxy would generously shove her bum into grandma's knee for her to scratch it.
This made Grandma laugh her head off. Her laugh was one of the best.
